Our Coffee Review Methodology

This is the short version of how our editorial system works. For the full explanation of evidence labels, scoring and verification, read How we test.

Evidence first

Every guide is labelled according to the evidence behind it: Hands-on tested means we used the gear ourselves; Editorially researched means we compared current specifications, owner evidence and category experience without pretending to have the product on our counter; Refreshed from verified specifications means an existing guide was checked against current manufacturer information and availability.

What we compare

Criteria depend on the category. We look at fit for purpose, usability, maintenance, availability, value and the compromise that matters most to the intended reader. A product does not make a list simply because it is popular or linked by an affiliate retailer.

Commercial independence

Affiliate commissions help support the site, but they do not determine which products appear or how we rank them. Read the affiliate disclosure for more detail.

When something changes

Prices, stock, models and claims are rechecked as the market moves. If we get a material fact wrong, we document the correction on the page and welcome reader feedback through our corrections process.
