Classic, Rich, Over Ice and Specialty change how much water passes through and how fast. Over Ice deliberately brews stronger so melting ice does not dilute it, which genuinely works. None of them heat the water differently, so treat the list as a dosing control rather than as a temperature one.
Rapid cold brew is not cold brew
The CM371 makes a cold coffee in ten to fifteen minutes by brewing at a lower temperature and higher strength. Proper cold brew steeps for twelve to twenty-four hours and tastes noticeably rounder and less acidic. The rapid version is a good iced coffee and a poor cold brew, and Ninja is not clear about the difference.
The fold-away frother is the one feature worth paying for
Most integrated frothers are a plastic whisk that makes bubbles. Ninja’s fold-away wand actually produces usable foam for a latte, and it folds flat when you are not using it. On the CM401 it is the reason to choose that model over a cheaper one.
Pods and grounds in one machine is a real advantage
The DualBrew line brews a full carafe from grounds and a single cup from a K-Cup, from the same water tank. In a house where one person wants a pot and another wants a pod, that removes an appliance. It is the strongest argument for buying Ninja rather than anybody else.
